My approach is collaborative, relational, trauma-informed, and personalized for you. Depending upon your concerns and goals, I may use a combination of interventions that are tailored specifically to your needs. These may include compassion-focused therapy, existential-humanistic therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, brain-based interventions, relational therapy, Feminist therapy, positive psychology, and/or career development theory.

Psychotherapy offers a unique relationship not often found in other parts of our life. A healing therapeutic relationship is founded on emotional safety, trust, non-judgment, acceptance, and genuine care. The benefits of therapy will vary for each individual, but may include significant reductions in distress, greater control of your thoughts and emotions, more effective coping and problem-solving skills, greater self-awareness, and improved relationships.
The decision to seek individual therapy is a decision to invest in yourself in a new way, with the courage to face difficult truths, learn new tools, access new resources, gain new perspectives, and make lasting changes to improve your life.
-
This varies by individual. It’s important to me that our work together helps you get back on track as soon as possible while also honoring your individual pace. Beginning in our first session we will assess how much distress and difficulty you’re experiencing and make a plan that fits your needs. If you want to focus on a single, isolated topic, therapy may be briefer. If there are several, interconnected and complex issues, we may need a longer period of time to get you to your goals.
-
The higher your level of distress, or the more complex the issues, the more you may benefit from weekly sessions so we can take advantage of positive momentum for change. Doing therapeutic work at a level that will sustain long-term change takes time, consistency, and commitment. Clients who invest in this process wholeheartedly see positive growth faster and experience more sustainable change in their lives.
-
The goals for our first session are to get acquainted and start building a plan to address your concerns. As part of that process, we will review your background and history, begin to explore what’s working and what’s not working in your life, and start to formulate an outline for our work together. By the end of the session, my objective is for you to feel heard and seen, hopeful, encouraged, and well-supported for this undertaking.
-
One of the ways that I work differently from a lot of other therapists is that I accept only a limited number of clients at one time and can generally hold your specific appointment day and time on an ongoing basis until our work together is done. It’s helpful to maintain this consistency so that your therapy is a predictable and anticipated time for your self-care and reflection. It also means that, as my client, you will never have to compete with an overloaded schedule or go for long stretches of time between appointments solely because I do not have an available spot for you. Sessions are available by appointment Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday between the hours of 9:00 am and 5:30 pm.
-
Preparation for your first session is an important part of the therapeutic process and will support positive outcomes. You can do this by taking sufficient time to complete intake questionnaires, reflect on your goals, and identify any of the barriers that have been holding you back from your best and most authentic self.
I also recommend that you bring a notebook or journal to each of your sessions. This can be a valuable place to record your insights, write down assignments to do between sessions, keep lists, formulate questions, and mark your progress.
-
I get it. Sometimes “life happens” and it may not be possible for you to keep your scheduled appointment. I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. If you need to cancel for any reason, I ask that you provide at least 24-hours notice to avoid incurring a late cancellation fee.
